Our Story
Every piece of jewelry tells a story. Ours tells a story of "seven generations", a small village, golden dreams, and one bold decision that turned tradition into a revolution.

Every material we use, explained honestly — so you know exactly what you are paying for. This is the reference page for everything Silver Ocean jewellery is made of.
Metals
925 sterling silver (the base of everything)
An alloy of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% copper — strong enough for daily wear, bright enough to stay beautiful for decades. It is hypoallergenic, repairable and holds intrinsic metal value. Full detail in the 925 sterling silver guide; every piece is certified — see certification & authenticity.
Rose gold & gold plating
Some designs — like our rose gold heart bracelet — layer gold tones over the sterling base. The core remains certified 925 silver; the plating adds warmth. Plated pieces need slightly gentler care: no abrasive polishing, wipe with the soft cloth only (see the care guide).
Oxidised / antique finish
A deliberately darkened surface used on tribal and heritage designs, such as our men's antique kadas. The patina is intentional — don't polish it away.
Stones
Cubic zirconia (CZ)
A lab-created crystal cut to sparkle like diamond at a fraction of the cost. Hard, colour-consistent and ethical — the standard stone in modern silver jewellery worldwide.
Zircon
Often confused with CZ, zircon is a natural mineral with high brilliance. In everyday jewellery both terms describe brilliant white accent stones; what matters is secure setting and cut quality, which we inspect on every piece.
Pearls & mother of pearl
Soft, organic materials prized for lustre. Keep them away from perfume and store separately — they are gentler than metal and scratch more easily.
Coloured stones (emerald-tone, ruby-tone, sapphire-tone)
Our coloured stones are premium lab-created crystals selected for rich, consistent colour — stated plainly so you never mistake them for mined precious gems at mined-gem prices.
Which material should I choose?
- Daily wear: plain or CZ-set 925 silver — toughest, easiest to maintain.
- Gifting: rose gold-plated hearts and pearls read most romantic — see the gift guide.
- Men: matte, oxidised or plain polished silver — see the men's guide.
- Sensitive skin: unplated 925 silver studs and nose pins.
Frequently asked questions
Is CZ fake?
CZ is a real lab-created crystal — not glass, not plastic. It is honestly sold as CZ, engineered for brilliance and durability in daily-wear jewellery.
Will rose gold plating wear off?
With care, plating lasts years: keep it away from perfume, sweat and abrasion, and wipe with a soft cloth only. The 925 silver base beneath is permanent.
Are your pearls real?
We use quality cultured and mother-of-pearl materials selected for lustre and durability; each product page states the material for that piece.
